What’s your name? Jeanne Donado
What do you do at the college? I am the Grant Development Coordinator in the Educational Resources Development office (ERD). A few of the things I do are researching grant opportunities for the college, assisting with grant program design, developing federal and state grant applications, and working with the college’s Grant Finance and Grant Budget office to present grant-learning sessions for different departments and divisions.
How long have you been with LCC? 8 years
What do you enjoy most about being a Prism member?
I enjoy connecting with LGBTQIA+ people and allies from different parts of the college to discuss issues that are important to us. And to have fun together, of course. I also appreciate that we are taking action to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone at LCC–with a lot of support from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
What PRISM projects are you most interested in, present and future? Everything PRISM is doing interests me! Right now we’re working on reaching out to more people across the college and getting them involved with Prism. One idea has been to start a reading group, which will get underway this spring. We also work closely with other diversity groups on campus to establish a more visible presence for all of us and support each other’s work.
What do you like best about the LGBT community? What’s not to like? Seriously, though, it’s important to note that the LGBTQIA+ community actually includes many communities with different priorities, needs, and life experiences. I enjoy learning more about each of them, and our similarities and differences.
What are some of your hobbies? Writing and performing music, cooking, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with my cats Bosco and Bella.
What would people be surprised to learn about you? When I was in college I lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for a while.
